The materials taken from the walls were recycled and used for constructing low seating units in the university college’s garden.</span></p> <p><span>A lot of people pass by the wall of Artevelde University College on a daily basis, including illegal taggers.  In order to get rid of them, the city of Ghent asked street art talent Joachim (Lambrechts) to provide a nice alternative that would brighten up the wall. </span></p> <p><span>Joachim Lambrechts is a promising street artist from Lier with a cheerful pop art graffiti style. In recent years, Joachim has built up a strong reputation in the international street art scene with murals and exhibitions in countless cities and a permanent gallery in London.</span></p> </div> " art.

Met dit werk wilden ze meer culturele activiteiten integreren in hun onderwijs en een open verbinding met de maatschappij creëren. De studenten wilden letterlijk en figuurlijk een venster op de stad, omdat dit hun toekomstige werkveld is.</p> <p><strong>Michel François</strong> nam dit idee letterlijk en maakte ronde openingen in de muur om de buitenwereld binnen de schoolomgeving te brengen en een uitzicht over de stad te bieden. Het materiaal dat uit de muur werd gehaald om de openingen te maken, werd hergebruikt om lage zitelementen te creëren die in de tuin van de school geplaatst werden.</p> <p>Door de centrale ligging en vele passage kreeg de muur ook veel ongewenste graffiti. Om dat tegen te gaan, stapte de Stad Gent in 2018 naar streetartkunstenaar Joachim Lambrechts, met de vraag om een nieuw kunstwerk te maken dat de muur zou opfleuren en beschermen tegen vandalisme.</p> <p><strong>Joachim </strong>(<span>voluit <strong>Joachim Lambrechts</strong>),</span> een veelbelovende streetartkunstenaar uit Lier, staat bekend om zijn vrolijke graffiti-popartstijl. Hij bouwde de afgelopen jaren een sterke reputatie op in de internationale streetartscene, met muurschilderingen en exposities in talloze steden en een vaste galerij in Londen.</p> <p>Ondanks zijn kleurrijke toevoeging werd de muur opnieuw grotendeels overspoten met ongewenste graffiti. Daarom werd in 2024 <strong>Wannes Cools</strong> gevraagd om een nieuw ontwerp te maken voor deze muur. Zijn stijl is kleurrijk en speels, met een sterke comic-invloed. Wannes werkt vaak met landschappen, en voor deze muur creëerde hij een beeldverhaal met twee personages in een landschap. • article articleBody " <div class="paragraph text"> <p>Kitsune is het Japanse woord voor vos, kan ook vertaald worden als vossengeest.<span>  </span>Kitsune is een belangrijke figuur in de Japanse mythologie, hij bezit bovennatuurlijke krachten en kan veranderen van een vos in een mens.<span>  </span>Ze zijn ondeugend, speels, niet goed of slecht maar willen meestal wel doen wat goed is.</p> <p>Kitsune Jolene (Jolien De Waele) is een graffitikunstenaar met Gent als uitvalsbasis. Begonnen in 2017 is haar werk vandaag terug te vinden van België tot Portugal en Dubai. She made her debut in 2017, and her work can now be seen not only in Belgium but also in Portugal and Dubai. • article articleBody " <div class="paragraph text"> <p><span>Broucke was inspired by the early 19th-century murals found in the Museum Arnold Vander Haeghen which portray many bridges. He named the piece ‘The Bridge’.  Several discarded collection pieces from the Museum of Industry were used to create ‘The Bridge’, referencing the rich industrial past of Ghent and the Clemmen warehouse.</span></p> <p><span>The construction itself is already fascinating. • article articleBody " <div class="paragraph text"> <p>Broucke inspireerde zich op de vroeg-19de-eeuwse wandschilderingen in het Museum Arnold Vander Haeghen waarop heel wat bruggen afgebeeld staan.  Hij noemde zijn werk ‘De Brug’.  Het bestaat uit afgedankte collectiestukken van het Industriemuseum en verwijst daarmee naar het rijke industriële verleden van Gent en het pakhuis Clemmen.</p> <p>Alleen al de constructie van het werk is enorm fascinerend. Voor de uitvoering ervan werd gebruik gemaakt van een ingenieus hangsysteem met sterke en duurzame materialen.
