• 830827 articleBody " <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full"> <p>Ghent is a partner in <strong>RISE-IN</strong> (Resilient Investment for Sustainable Environments), a European project focused on <strong>reducing flood risks</strong> through sustainable and scalable solutions.</p><p>RISE-IN bridges the gap between <strong>ecological resilience </strong>and <strong>financial feasibility</strong>. As a <strong>replicator city</strong>, Ghent will adapt and apply a successful flood management model previously demonstrated in Cesena (Italy), Christchurch (New Zealand), and Póvoa de Varzim (Portugal).</p><p>Together with 23 partners from 13 countries, Ghent helps shape a future where cities are better prepared for climate change and where sustainable solutions are not only effective, but also financially viable.</p><h2>Goals of the project</h2><p>The project focuses on:</p><ul><li><strong>Nature-based solutions</strong><span> for flood risk management.</span></li><li><strong>Innovative financing models</strong><span> that make climate-resilient interventions more attractive to investors.</span></li><li><span>The development of the </span><strong>Bankability Readiness Level</strong><span> – a new tool to assess and unlock the investment potential of climate solutions.</span></li></ul><h2><span>Budget</span></h2><p>The project is funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme, as part of the Mission on Climate Adaptation. RISE-IN runs until 30 April 2030.
