• 24395 articleBody " <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full"> <p>Een aantal hoekpanden in Ledeberg was in zeer slechte staat, waardoor de hele buurt vaak een verwaarloosde indruk gaf. De hoek van een straat bepaalt namelijk in grote mate het uitzicht van de hele omgeving. In opdracht van Stad Gent kocht sogent, het Gentse stadsontwikkelingsbedrijf, verschillende van deze verkrotte hoekpanden op om ze te vervangen door nieuwe eengezinswoningen met tuin en/of terras. Een aantal van de hoekpanden kreeg ook een groen pleintje of plekje waar buurtbewoners elkaar kunnen ontmoeten. </p><h2>12 woningen en 5 appartementen</h2><p>In 2009 deed sogent een oproep aan architecten om de verkrotte hoekwoningen in Ledeberg om te vormen tot kwalitatieve, ruimtelijke en hedendaagse woningen. Na een prijsvraag voor ontwerpen kwamen 4 jonge, talentvolle laureaten uit de bus: BARAK Architecten in samenwerking met Kris Coremans, BULK Architecten, PULS Architecten in samenwerking met Benoit Ottevaere en NU Architectuuratelier. Zij ontwierpen stuk voor stuk unieke, hedendaagse woningen die voldoen aan de basisbehoeften van vandaag. In totaal gaat het om twaalf (hoek)woningen en vijf appartementen op de volgende acht locaties:</p><ul><li>Hoek Kleine Kerkstraat - Hoefijzerstraat (4 woningen)</li><li>Hoek Floristenstraat – Jozef Vervaenestraat (1 woning)</li><li>Hoek Floristenstraat - Frans De Coninckstraat (1 woning)</li><li>Hoek Hilarius Bertolfstraat – Veldwijkstraat (1 woning)</li><li>Hoek Moriaanstraat – Veldwijkstraat (2 woningen)</li><li>Moriaanstraat (2 woningen)</li><li>Tussen Edward Blaesstraat en de Fransevaart (1 woning)</li><li>Hoek Neerscheldestraat – Scheldekaai (5 appartementen)</li></ul><p>Alle twaalf eengezinswoningen zijn afgewerkt en verkocht door het stadsontwikkelingsbedrijf sogent. De laatste hoekwoning met vijf appartementen in de Neerscheldestraat is op dit moment nog in opbouw.</p><h2>Groene ontmoetingsplekken</h2><p>Naast de woningen kwamen er ook kleine ontmoetingsplekken in Ledeberg. Zo kunnen mensen een babbeltje slaan met elkaar of even in het zonnetje zitten terwijl de kinderen ruimte hebben om te spelen.</p><p>Deze nieuwe stukjes openbaar domein kunnen het best omschreven worden als een pleintje met een boom. Sommige hoekwoningen beschikken dan weer over begroeide gevels. Op deze manier creëerden we niet enkel ontmoetingsruimte, maar kreeg de wijk ook meer groen.</p><p>Op sommige van de hoeken kwam er ook kunst. Zo <a href="https://stad.gent/cultuur-sport-vrije-tijd/cultuur/kunsten/kunst-publieke-ruimte/kunstintegraties-ikv-ledeberg-leeft-%E2%80%93-ll100-masterplan-ura">integreren we kunst in de wijk</a>, tussen de bewoners en niet op grote stadspleinen. Kunst om de hoek, een plek tussen de huizen die even ruimte laat voor dromen, voor stilstand. </p><h2><strong>Ledeberg leeft</strong></h2><p>De vernieuwing van de hoekwoningen maakt deel uit van het Stadsvernieuwingsproject ‘Ledeberg leeft’. Met het stadsvernieuwingsproject wil de Stad Gent een stevige impuls geven aan Ledeberg om de leefbaarheid in de wijk te verbeteren.
