Die wijken ontstonden </span><span>tijdens de industriële revolutie als grote verkavelingen </span><span>van arbeiderswoningen in de nabijheid van grote </span><span>fabrieksgebouwen. Stadvernieuwingsprojecten investeren </span><span>er in de woonkwaliteit, publiek domein, de buurt en vooral de leefbaarheid van de wijk.</span> <br> </div> <div>In 2005 maakte het ontwerpteam Johan van Reeth de <span>conceptstudie Bruggen naar Rabot. </span><span>De studie formuleert een aantal krachtlijnen voor de wijk Rabot-</span><span>Blaisantvest. Het stadsvernieuwingsproject moet de wijk </span><span>beter verbinden met het centrum en het noorden. Ook in de wijk komen er nieuwe verbindingen tussen de buurten </span><span>Rabot en Blaisantvest. In de wijk wordt geïnvesteerd in </span><span>openbaar groen en kwalitatieve woningen. Het Tondelier-stadsdeel ligt midden in de Rabotwijk en voegt er niet alleen woningen aan toe, maar ook publieke voorzieningen, een park, een kindercrèche en kantoorruimte. In dit project gaat bijzondere aandacht naar sociale samenhang en duurzaam bouwen. In 2009 beslisten we om de 3 verouderde Rabottorens te slopen en te vervangen door 8 lagere appartementsgebouwen. De site is momenteel dan ook in volle transformatie. Tegen 2023 moeten zo’n 360 nieuwe sociale woningen op de site verrijzen. De buurt zelf koos de naam. </p> <p>Buurtbewoners van het nieuwe park achter de Maria Gorettikerk aan de Blaisantvest konden zelf suggesties doen voor een naam. Na een online stemming haalde de naam Herman Pillaertpark het uiteindelijk met 34 procent van de stemmen. De naam werd vastgelegd op de gemeenteraad van 26 september 2022. Herman Pillaert (1938 – 2000), vaak de priester Daens van de Gentse Turken genoemd, was een priester-arbeider die zijn hele leven leefde en werkte tussen de mensen. Hij leerde Turks om de Turkse arbeidersgezinnen bij te staan en groeide uit tot een legende in de wijk Ham en later ook in de Rabotwijk.</p> </div> </dd> <dd class="item__image-desktop Het zijn nog de enige overgebleven exemplaren in Vlaanderen en dus echt uniek industrieel erfgoed. Eind 19e en begin 20e eeuw werd er stadsgas gemaakt om de straatlampen te doen branden. De buurt en Blaisantnest, de school in de buurt, worden de belangrijkste gebruikers.<br> <br> De kleine winterkapel met sacristie werd omgevormd tot multifunctionele ontmoetingsplaats voor de buurt door vzw DOIC (eigenaars van de kerk) met financiële steun van stad Gent. Die krijgt de naam 'Blaisanterie'.<br> <br> De Stad, die sinds 2005 eigenaar is van de gronden achter de kerk, heeft een buitenterras aangelegd zodat de Blaisanterie rechtsreeks aansluit op het nieuw De site wordt omgevormd tot park en ontmoetingsruimte voor de buurt en de school. Als eerste stap wordt op donderdag 16 mei 2019 een graffitimuur voorgesteld.</span></span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span lang="NL"><span>De graffitimuur is een eerste stap. We willen de Maria Gorettikerk en het gebied erachter inrichten voor de buurbewoners en de school. De kerk wordt gerenoveerd en omgevormd tot een ontmoetingsplaats. Begin 2020 wordt gestart met de aanleg van een buurtpark. Waar vroeger de eerste Rabottoren stond, zijn 3 nieuwe appartementsgebouwen verrezen. Op woensdag 12 september werden de nieuwe gebouwen officieel ingehuldigd. De verhuis van de eerste inwoners is volop aan de gang, sommigen kunnen rechtstreeks van de derde nog bestaande toren verhuizen naar een gloednieuw appartement.</p> </div> </dd> <dd alt="de site" /> </picture> </figure> </a> </div> </div> <p>Op 27 september namen we afscheid van De Site.<br> <span><span><span>10 jaar geleden werden er op de voormalige fabrieksvloer van Alcatel 80 minimoestuinen, een voetbalveld, een verkeers-parcours en een stadsboerderij met 8 kippen gebouwd. Later volgden nog eens 80 moestuinen, een serre, twee stadsakkers, … allemaal samen goed voor 4000 m² “vruchtbaarheid”. </span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span>Al snel werd De Site bekend in de wijk Rabot-Blaisantvest en steeds meer bewoners vonden er hun plekje. De Site is immers een trefpunt waar bewoners van verschillende origine en leeftijden elkaar ontmoeten en met elkaar samenwerken.<br> <br> De Site 'verhuist' nu naar het Rabotpark (ter hoogte van het gerechtsgebouw) waar de nieuwe Stadsakker zal komen. Want een aantal goede praktijken verhuizen gewoon mee. Zo krijgen de Weggeefwinkel, Telekledij, de Sociale Kruidenier en Rabot op je Bord hun nieuwe stek in het Bruisend Buurtcentrum.
