Dit samen met Gentenaartjes geboren in het voorgaande kalenderjaar. </span></p><p>Van 2009 tot 2018 plantten Gentenaartjes geboren in het voorgaande kalenderjaar het eerste geboortebos in de Gentbrugse Meersen. Goed voor meer dan 12.000 bomen en struiken of ongeveer 5 hectare bos. </p><p><span>Kindjes geboren in 2018, 2019 en 2020 kregen hun geboortebos in het Zwijntjesbos in Zwijnaarde. Het Zwijntjesbos is een speelbos en maakt deel uit van de groenpool Parkbos. </span></p><p><span>Sinds 2022 plantten we een geboortebos in de groenpool Vinderhoutse Bossen. Dit geboortebos, gelegen in het toegangsportaal De Campagne, dragen we op aan kindjes geboren in 2021, 2022, 2023 en 2024.</span></p><h2>Waarom een geboortebos?<a class="ck-anchor" id="waarom-een-geboortebos"></a></h2><p>Bossen zijn plezante plekken om in te spelen. Ze leveren ook gezonde lucht en zijn dus van groot belang in een stad, zeker nu het klimaat opwarmt. Daarnaast staan bomen bij uitstek symbool voor het groeien. Een geboortebos is dan ook een ideaal geboortegeschenk voor nieuwe Gentenaartjes.</p><p><span>In het geboortebos maken we zoveel mogelijk gebruik van inheemse bomen en struiken.</span></p><h2>Wanneer is de jaarlijkse plantdag van het geboortebos?<a class="ck-anchor" id="wanneer-is-de-jaarlijkse-plantdag-van-het-geboortebos"></a></h2><p>De plantdag van het geboortebos vindt jaarlijks plaats in <strong>oktober</strong>. Ouders die het voorgaande kalenderjaar een kindje kregen en gedomicilieerd zijn in Gent, krijgen hiervoor een uitnodiging in de brievenbus. </p> </div> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full"> <h2>Geboortemonument<a class="ck-anchor" id="geboortemonument"></a></h2><p>In het geboortebos vind je ook een geboortemonument. Hierop kunnen ouders met een domicilie in Gent <span>de naam van hun kindje laten vermelden. De namen worden erop gezet in het voorjaar na de plantdag. </span></p><p><span>Ouders van kindjes geboren van 2009 tot en met 2017 konden de naam van hun kindje laten vermelden op een van de geboortemonumenten in de Gentbrugse Meersen. Hier vind je </span><a href="https://stad.gent/nl/groen-milieu/parken/grote-parken-en-natuurgebieden/gentbrugse-meersen/beleef-de-gentbrugse-meersen#geboortebos"><span>een plan van de 10 geboortemonumenten per jaartal in de Gentbrugse Meersen</span></a><span>. </span><br><span>Kindjes geboren in 2018, 2019 en 2020 en waarvoor we toelating van de ouders kregen om de naam te vermelden, staan vermeld op het geboortemonument in het Zwijntjesbos in Zwijnaarde. Hier vind je de situering van </span><a href="https://stad.gent/sites/default/files/media/documents/20210909_PU_bufferbos%20plan%20website_bis.pdf"><span>het geboortemonument in het Zwijntjesbos</span></a><span>.</span><br><span>Kinderen uit 2021, 2022, 2023 en 2024 krijgen een plaatsje op het geboortemonument in de Vinderhoutse Bossen. </span><a href="///C:/Users/aertsel/Downloads/VIBO_Kaart_StandVZakenRealisaties_jun2022.pdf"><span>Op een kaart van het gebied vind je de geboortebossen.</span></a></p><h2>Ook voor overleden kindjes en sterrenkindjes<a class="ck-anchor" id="voor-overleden-kindjes-en-sterrenkindjes"></a></h2><p><span>Het geboortebos dragen we ook op aan Gentenaartjes die na de geboorte of tijdens de zwangerschap overleden zijn. Ook dan kan je deelnemen aan de plantdag en/of de naam van je kindje laten vermelden op het geboortemonument.</span></p><h2>Afrastering in het bos</h2><p>In het geboortebos is hekwerk geplaatst om jonge aanplantingen te <strong>beschermen tegen reeën en ander wild</strong>. De dieren eten de knoppen en blaadjes op, wat de groei van jonge bomen belemmert. Ze veroorzaken ook veegschade door met hun gewei tegen de bomen te schuren. De rasters beschermen de bomen totdat ze boven de vraatlijn zijn uitgegroeid, wat zo’n 8 à 10 jaar kan duren. Dit voorkomt dat bepaalde boomsoorten verdwijnen. Zodra de bomen groot genoeg zijn, worden de rasters verwijderd, waardoor een soortenrijk bos kan ontstaan.</p> </div> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--image paragraph--view-mode--full"> <div
