Zij presenteerden een “brochettemodel”, waarbij langsheen het water bebouwing wordt afgewisseld met groene publieke ruimtes. Het plan is nog altijd de basis voor de ontwikkeling van dit nieuw stukje stad.</span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span>Het brochettemodel van OMA is ondertussen alom bekend. Vanuit Frankrijk, Polen, Finland, Denemarken, … komen geïnteresseerde overheden en organisaties, studenten en senioren luisteren naar het verhaal van de Oude Dokken. elektriciteitscentrale van EDF Luminus langs Dok Zuid en op de splitsing van de Koopvaardijlaan en de Afrikalaan zijn verdwenen. Het Gentse stadsontwikkelingsbedrijf sogent en netbeheerder Elia stonden samen in voor het ondergronds brengen van de leidingen. De kabels vertrekken nu vanuit de mast nabij de firma De Swaef langs de Afrikalaan en worden van daar, onder het dok heen, naar de andere kant van het water gebracht. Het is een van de eerste keren dat dit gebeurde in een plaatsnaamgevingsprocedure.</p> <p>In de Oude Dokken komen er in totaal ongeveer 30 nieuwe straten, kades, pleinen, parken en bruggen. Die krijgen allemaal een naam. Er is steeds een link met de locatie en het verleden van de site, zoals de haven, de scheepvaart en de overzeese handel. Veel namen in de aansluitende havenregio verwijzen naar dit verleden. De namen van de fietsers- en voetgangersbruggen en kades liggen al sinds 2011 vast. Ze verwijzen allemaal naar verre bestemmingen en havensteden: Bataviabrug, de toekomstige Verapazbrug en Matadibrug. De namen van de kades refereren deels naar de dokken zelf en deels naar de beroepen die met die dokken te maken hebben. De Schipperskaai, Achterdokkaai en Handelsdokkaai zijn daar voorbeelden van.</p> <p><strong>Hoe wordt de naamgeving gekozen?</strong></p> <p>De Oude Dokken is in dit geval bijzonder, omdat hier als een van de eerste keren de leden van de Klankbordgroep Oude Dokken werden betrokken bij de plaatsnaamgevingsprocedure, voor advies.</p> <p>De eindbeslissing blijft bij de gemeenteraad. De Dienst Stadsarchief deed eerst juridisch correcte voorstellen. De leden van de Klankbordgroep Oude Dokken konden daaruit kiezen.</p> <p>In samenspraak met het Stadsarchief werden zes naamcategorieën uitgewerkt (juridisch en historisch gezien correcte voorstellen), waaruit de klankbordgroep haar voorkeur kon geven. Deze naamcategorieën en terugkoppeling met de klankbordgroep werden vooraf voorgelegd aan en besproken op de Commissie Algemene Zaken in 2010.</p> <p>Dit zijn de zes naamcategorieën waaruit de klankbordgroep haar voorkeur kon geven:</p> <ul> <li>Scheepvaartberoepen</li> <li>Scheepvaarttermen in verband met scheepsbouw, tuigage, navigatie en dergelijke</li> <li>Verre bestemmingen en havensteden</li> <li>Houtsoorten</li> <li>Specerijen, kruiden en exotische producten</li> <li>Fictieve figuren in verband met zee- en scheepvaart.</li> </ul> <p>Voor de naamgeving van de parken koos de klankbordgroep de categorie fictieve figuren in verband met zee- en scheepvaart. Zo is de naam ‘Kapitein Zeppospark’ voorgesteld. Die past perfect bij deze locatie aan het water met zijn rijk en levendig verleden als haven- en doksite. Nu de naam principieel is goedgekeurd door de gemeenteraad, volgt een periode van openbaar onderzoek tot 4 april 2018 . In die periode kan iedereen bezwaren tegen de naam indienen. Indien dat niet gebeurt, kan de gemeenteraad na het openbaar onderzoek de naam definitief goedkeuren. De tweede, de Sobemai-kraan staat aan het noordelijk uiteinde van de Kleindokkaai, en is ook een uitkijkpunt, maar dan richting Voorhaven en Muide. Het spreekt voor zich dat dit uitzonderlijke transport van deze reuzen doorheen de haven en de stad niet onopgemerkt voorbij ging.</p> <h2>Spectaculair transport</h2> <p>Op woensdag 20 juni startte transportfirma ‘De Groote’ uit Lochristi met de voorbereiding van het transport van de kranen naar de Oude Dokken. Ter hoogte van het Sifferdok werd de bijna 70 meter hoge ST1-kraan op een varend ponton geplaatst en over het water naar de Oude Dokken getransporteerd. De dag erna wordt ook de Sobemai-kraan vanop het Grootdok richting Voorhaven en vervolgens richting Houtdok en Achterdok naar de Dokken vervoerd. Daar worden de kranen op het land gezet, en vervolgens met een speciale transportlader naar hun definitieve bestemming gebracht.</p> <h2>Kranen met een verleden</h2> <p>De zogenaamde ‘ST1-kraan’ (of stukgoedkraan) weegt 370 ton, dateert van 1983 en is de hoogste van het kranenlandschap in de Oude Dokken. De kraan was eigendom van Euroports in de Gentse haven, maar werd vorig jaar aangekocht door de Stad Gent. Ondertussen kreeg deze kraan al een schilderbeurt. De ST1-kraan heeft een hijsvermogen van maar liefst 35 ton, en heeft meer dan 30 jaar dienst gedaan bij Euroports voor het laden en lossen van zowel stukgoed als bulkgoederen.</p> <p>Ook de ‘Sobemai-kraan’ is aangekocht van Euroports. Deze kraan dateert van 1988 en weegt 150 ton. De Sobemai-kraan is een hydraulische evenwichtskraan, gemaakt volgens een Belgisch patent. Deze kraan werkte snel en precies. Door het lage energieverbruik en de snelle behandeling van goederen had de evenwichtskraan een hoog rendement.</p> <p>Het kranenproject in de Oude Dokken kan gerealiseerd worden dankzij de financiële steun van EFRO (Europees Fonds voor Regionale Ontwikkeling). Maar ook de voorbije jaren heeft Europa al heel wat geïnvesteerd in de herontwikkeling van de Oude Dokken. Zo subsidieerde EFRO ook de renovatie van de kaaimuren langs het Houtdok en de historische bakstenen bogen die geïntegreerd zullen worden in het Kapitein Zeppospark, de renovatie van de kaaimuren en aanleg van de woonbootsteigers in het Handelsdok en de renovatie van de kaaimuur langs het Achterdok.</p> <h2><strong>Kunstige kranen</strong></h2> <p>In opdracht van de Stad ging illustrator Kathy De Wit creatief aan de slag met een eigenwijze en ‘Gentsche interpretatie’ van Lieven Tavernier van de Europese hymne, die zij op de ST1-kraan schilderde.</p> <p>In de loop van 2019 krijgt de ST1- kraan nog een uitkijkplatform, zodat bewoners en bezoekers de Oude Dokken tot aan de Dampoort kunnen overschouwen. volledig afgerond. De Ravelijnstraat en de Kleindokkaai werden sinds 23 maart 2020 open gesteld.<br> De beide straten zijn volledig heraangelegd als woonerf zonder parkeerplaatsen.<br> Dat betekent dat:<br> - er een maximum snelheid van 20 km/u geldt<br> - parkeren verboden is<br> - voetgangers en fietsers de ganse breedte van de openbare weg mogen gebruiken<br> - spelen er toegelaten zijn<br> Een karrenspoor aan gevelzijde laat laden en lossen met de wagen nog toe, maar benadrukt vooral het verkeersluwe karakter. Maar vooral willen ze <span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>bijdragen aan gedragsverandering, de ontwikkeling van duurzame steden en het behalen van de klimaatdoelstellingen. Daarom zet DOKano zich samen met Ivago in om de waterkwaliteit van het Gentse water te verbeteren. Per vaardag in het weekend lenen ze twee gratis kano's uit, in ruil voor een emmer drijfvuil. Op deze zomerse zondag stelden we het stadsgebouw open voor iedereen. Overdag waren er rondleidingen en activiteiten voor jong en oud. 's Avonds werd het gebouw omgetoverd tot de locatie voor de bekendmaking van de eerste Architectuurprijs Gent... en rarara ook daar viel de Oude Dokken in de prijzen. Op de terreinen van een voormalige schroothandel vlak bij de Dampoort kunnen skaters zich vanaf vrijdag 4 november, uitleven op verschillende toestellen. De tijdelijke invulling komt er onder meer op vraag van de buurt.</p> <p>Vlak bij de Dampoort aan de Koopvaardijlaan liggen de terreinen van een voormalige schroothandel. Later komt er op deze locatie een wijkpark, maar in afwachting daarvan krijgt de plek dankzij een overeenkomst met sogent nu een tijdelijke invulling als skatespot. De invulling komt er onder meer na vragen uit de wijken Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham en Muide-Meulestede-Afrikalaan.</p> <p><a </a> </div> </div> <p>In het verlengde van de Kraankindersstraat bouwt sogent samen met <a href="https://www.vlaamsewaterweg.be/">De Vlaamse Waterweg nv</a> een nieuwe fietsers- en voetgangersbrug tussen de Handelsdokkaai en de Schipperskaai. Op zaterdag 10 juni werden de vier stalen onderdelen van de nieuwe fietsers- en voetgangersbrug geplaatst. Nu de brug op haar plaats ligt, is de laatste rechte lijn naar oplevering ingezet. Voor de 2023-editie konden publieke en semipublieke opdrachtgevers projecten insturen voor de categorieën masterplan, architectuur en kunst in opdracht.</p> <p>Het <a href="https://sogent.be/projecten/oude-dokken">project Oude Dokken </a>is laureaat in de categorie Masterplan. De jury prijst het sterke projectteam dat dit complexe speelveld met publiek-private partners pragmatisch, maar steeds met hoge maatschappelijke ambities bespeelt. Ze prijzen ook de verschillende vormen van kwaliteitsbewaking.
