Lara Rosseel groeide als muzikante en componiste uit tot een vaste waarde in de Gentse jazzscene.</p> <p>Een panel experten uit de Gentse muzieksector duidde de muzikante unaniem aan als stadscomponist voor een periode van twee jaar. Volgens de jury leven haar composities zich naadloos in in een stedelijke context. Ze neemt de fakkel over van stadsraconteur Wouter Deprez. Eerder was Fulco Ottervanger voor de periode 2018-2019 reeds stadscomponist.</p> <p>Lara Rosseel is een jonge jazzmuzikante en componiste. Ze is een beloftevolle bandleader die zich helemaal thuis voelt in de Gentse jazzscene. Lara werkt als verbindende figuur samen met diverse lokale artiesten.</p> <p>De stadscomponist werd uit een brede selectie van kandidaten gekozen door juryleden Wim Wabbes (artistiek directeur Handelsbeurs), Osama Abdulrasol (winnaar Cultuurprijs stad Gent 2013), Geert Riem (directeur muziekcentrum De Bijloke), Eric Smout (artistiek leider Democrazy), Frederik Styns (intendant Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen) en Martine Huvenne (docent film en coördinator van de European Master of Arts in Sound aan KASK).</p> <p>Lara Rosseel groeide op in een muzikale omgeving en als multi-instrumentalist speelt zij naast contrabas ook klassieke gitaar, cello en viool. Ze volgde les aan het Lemmensinstituut. In Göteborg ging ze in de leer bij Anders Jornin van het Bobo Sentson Trio. In België waren zowel Nicolas Thys als Jos Machtel haar mentoren.<br> Vandaag neemt zij een belangrijke plaats in de hedendaagse Belgische jazzscene in. Haar volledig eigen repertoire getuigt van diepe liefde voor jazzmuziek, flirtend met Afrikaanse traditionele roots en filmische intimiteit. Met de Lara Rosseel Band bracht ze in 2020 haar debuutalbum De Grote Vrouw uit. In 2022 werd het nieuwe album <em>Hert </em>uit met het Lara Rosseel Quintet uitgebracht.</p> </div> " news.
