Het gebouw zal bestaan uit twee delen, verbonden door een glazen passerelle. De cafetaria wordt naast een sportkantine ook een ontmoetingsruimte voor de buurt. De buurtsporthal maakt deel uit van het stadsvernieuwingsproject Ledeberg Leeft en moet eind 2023 klaar zijn.</strong></p><p>De funderingswerken voor de nieuwe buurtsporthal begonnen in juli 2022. De ruim 230 funderingspalen zitten intussen in de grond en nu is er gestart met de bouw van de sporthal zelf. Die zal bestaan uit twee delen: de sporthal en een nevengebouw met inkomhal, verbonden door een glazen passerelle die tussen de pijlers van de fly-over loopt. In het bijgebouw komt ook een cafetaria, die naast sportkantine dienst zal doen als ontmoetingsruimte voor de buurt.</p> </div> <div class="quote-wrapper"> <div class="quote"> <blockquote> <div class="content"> <p> Ik ben heel blij dat we hier eindelijk kunnen beginnen bouwen. De sporthal kadert binnen het stadsvernieuwingsproject <a href="https://stad.gent/nl/ledeberg-leeft" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Ledeberg Leeft</a> en is er in eerste instantie voor de buurt. Zo krijgt onder meer vzw Jong een aantal uren om een laagdrempelig, buurtgericht aanbod te realiseren.
