In this photographic exhibition, the Museum of Industry displays 30 pairs of pictures, comparing the past and the present. <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full"> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-text field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field__item"><p>One hundred years ago Ghent was a busy industrial city with textile factories, which were real cathedrals of industry, and densely populated working-class districts.</p> <p>All that changed in the mid-20th century. The textile industry was hit hard and went into a steady decline. Equipped with a camera, the pioneers of industrial archaeology captured the threatened factories and working-class districts on film.</p> <p>This exhibition shows what the factories used to look like and what has become of them. Black-and-white photographs taken by those pioneers enter into a dialogue with colour pictures made by Alexander Dumarey. Contaba con numerosas fábricas de textil, que se erguían como unas verdaderas catedrales de la industria, y barrios obreros superpoblados.</p> <p>Sin embargo, todo ello cambió a mediados del siglo pasado. La industria textil sufrió un golpe duro y empezó a desmoronarse. Armados con una cámara, los pioneros de la arqueología industrial visitaron varias antiguas fábricas y barrios obreros en peligro.</p> <p>Esta exposición le muestra cómo eran las fábricas en sus días de gloria y qué ha sido de ellas en la actualidad. Mit Textilfabriken, wahren Kathedralen der Industrie, und dichtbesiedelten Arbeitervierteln.</p> <p>Mitte des letzten Jahrhunderts änderte sich das. Die Textilindustrie hatte es schwer und ließ nach. Wegbereiter der industriellen Archäologie reisten mit einer Kamera in der Hand zu den bedrohten Fabriken und Arbeitervierteln.</p> <p>Diese Ausstellung zeigt, wie die Fabriken aussahen und was davon geworden ist. Schwarzweißbilder dieser Wegbereiter werden neben Farbfotos von Alexander Dumarey gestellt. Dans cette exposition, le Musée de l’Industrie présente 30 paires de photos confrontant passé et présent. <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full"> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-text field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field__item"><p>Il y a cent ans, Gand était une ville industrielle bouillonnante d’activité, avec des usines de textile, qui étaient de véritables cathédrales de l’industrie, et des quartiers ouvriers densément peuplés.</p> <p>Cette situation a changé au milieu du siècle dernier, lorsque l’industrie textile a commencé à décliner. Armés de leur appareil photo, les pionniers de l’archéologie industrielle se sont alors rendus dans les usines et les quartiers ouvriers menacés.</p> <p>Cette exposition montre à quoi ressemblaient les usines et ce qu’elles sont devenues. Les photographies en noir et blanc de ces pionniers sont présentées côte à côte avec des photos en couleur d’Alexander Dumarey.
